Watt Selected for the D3baseball.com Team of the Week
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University junior pitcher Jackson Watt (Rocklin, CA/Whitney HS) has been selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performance on the mound over the past two weeks.
Compiles a 0.56 ERA and 19 Strikeouts over 16 Innings Pitched this Season
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University junior pitcher Jackson Watt (Rocklin, CA/Whitney HS) has been selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performance on the mound over the past two weeks.
This week, he was chosen as the Northwest Conference Baseball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance in a 2-1 non-conference win over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, Feb. 14. Watt threw all nine innings and gave up one unearned run while striking out nine batters. He only allowed seven hits (all singles) and he gave up just one walk, which was in the ninth inning.
Last weekend against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Watt threw seven innings of one run ball and struck out a career-high 10 batters, leading the Bearcats to a victory in the season open.
On the year, Watt is 2-0 with a 0.56 earned run average and 19 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched. He has walked just two batters, one in each game. Batters are hitting just .182 against him.
The Bearcats will open Northwest Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Whitman College at John Lewis Field. The Bearcats will take on the Missionaries in a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 21 starting at 11 a.m. (PST). Willamette and Whitman will complete the series with one game on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m.
This week, Jackson Watt was chosen NWC Student-Athlete of the week for his complete game win against Lewis & Clark College.
