Women's Basketball to host Respect Night
On Tuesday, December 15 it will be Respect Night at the Willamette University women’s basketball game against Southern Virginia University. All Special Olympics athletes, along with their families, will be admitted for free. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (PST) at Cone Field House.
Respect Night is an ongoing campaign to raise consciousness about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word retard(ed) and to encourage people to pledge to stop using the R-word. The campaign, created by youth, is intended to engage schools, organizations and communities to rally and pledge their support and to promote inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities.
The Bearcats are proud to support Special Olympics and look forward to Special Olymics athletes watching the game as Willamette battles the Southern Virginia Knights.
