Northwest Conference Scholar-Athletes Announced

SALEM, Ore. -- The northwest conference announced the 2019-20 Scholar-Athlete awards, recognizing 1,426 Student-Athletes for performance in the classroom and on the field of play. One hundred and twenty-five student-athletes from Willamette University have qualified as Northwest Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2019-20 academic year. Eighteen of the Bearcat athletes participated in two sports earning 143 total awards.

In order to earn NWC Scholar-Athlete recognition, a student-athlete needed at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. In addition, each athlete had to participate in a full season on a varsity team this past year.

Willamette placed 75 athletes from women's teams on the NWC Scholar-Athlete list, including 12 two-sport athletes for 87 total awards. The Bearcat men's teams qualified 50 athletes for NWC Scholar-Athlete status, including five two-sport athletes for 55 total awards. The Bearcat women's soccer team led the way with 18 NWC Scholar-Athlete selections.
