Hood-Taylor Chosen NWC Student-Athlete Pitcher of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University sophomore pitcher Ryan Hood-Taylor (RHP, Scio, OR/Scio HS) has been named Northwest Conference Student-Athlete Pitcher of the Week in baseball for the week ending March 1. Hood-Taylor threw six scoreless innings as the starter in Willamette's 5-0 victory over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Hood-Taylor recorded the win in the first game of Willamette's four-game series with the Pioneers. He struck out five batters, allowed just four hits and gave up three walks. He improved to 2-0 on the season.

In his two appearances so far this season, Hood-Taylor has achieved a 2.25 earned run average. He has registered six strikeouts and held opponents to a .209 batting average in 12 innings pitched.

Willamette won three out of four games against Lewis & Clark to improve to 5-2 overall, while opening the NWC schedule at 3-1. The Bearcats have achieved a 3.79 team ERA and have limited opponents to four runs or less in four of their seven games.

The 'Cats will travel to the San Francisco Bay area to take on Menlo College this weekend in a three game series. Two games are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, starting at 12 p.m. (PST). The final game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 12 p.m. (PDT).
