SALEM, ORE. -- It's always great to get a win against a major rival in any sport. The win gains even more value when the archrival you've defeated is ranked #1 in the nation. That was the case when Willamette University defeated Linfield College, 7-3, on March 8, 2014 in McMinnville, Ore.
SALEM, ORE. -- It was a stellar freshman season for Willamette University designated hitter Ty Wyatt (Keizer, OR/McNary HS) and now, he can add another honor to his name.
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University freshman designated hitter Ty Wyatt (Keizer, OR/McNary HS) has been named Second Team All-West Region for the 2014 season by D3baseball.com. Forty-two athletes were selected for All-West Region honors, split evenly between the First Team, Second Team and Third Team.
SALEM, ORE. -- For the second year in a row, Willamette University has placed nine players on the All-Northwest Conference Baseball Team, as chosen in voting by the NWC head coaches. Four Bearcats earned First Team All-NWC honors for the 2014 season, while one received Second Team recognition and four were chosen for Honorable Mention.
TACOMA, WASH. -- Playing at home on Logger Field, the University of Puget Sound won both games of a doubleheader against Willamette University on Sunday, April 27, taking an 18-3 victory in the first game and a 9-5 triumph in the second game. The nightcap ended in the middle of the eighth inning due to darkness.
TACOMA, WASH. -- University of Puget Sound pitcher Steve Wagar threw all nine innings and limited Willamette University to six hits, as the Loggers defeated the Bearcats, 12-4, in a Northwest Conference baseball game on Saturday, April 26 at Logger Field. The Loggers broke a 4-4 tie when Lucas Stone opened the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run.
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University Bearcats will look to secure second place in the final Northwest Conference standings as they take on University of Puget Sound in a three-game series this weekend in Tacoma, Wash.
