Lewis & Clark Outlasts Bearcats

PORTLAND, Ore. — Willamette University (15-10, 10-6 NWC) fell to Lewis & Clark College (13-12, 9-7 NWC) 92-83 in a competitive contest at Pamplin Sports Center. Willamette trailed by 17 at halftime but made a strong push in the second half, outscoring Lewis & Clark 61-53. Despite the comeback effort, the Bearcats could not overcome the deficit, although they recorded 38 points from their bench and 23 second-chance points. Lewis & Clark sealed the victory with 12 three-pointers and a 75% free-throw shooting performance.
Lewis & Clark capitalized on Willamette's 11 turnovers to build a lead by the end of the first half, despite a tied game in early exchanges. The Bearcats struggled offensively, shooting 30 percent from the field and failing to score on fast breaks. In contrast, Lewis & Clark converted six 3-pointers and registered 14 points from its bench, helping it head into halftime up 39-22.
Willamette mounted a strong offensive effort in the second half, outscoring Lewis & Clark 61-53. The Bearcats' scoring was bolstered by an impressive 17 points off turnovers and 22 points in the paint, highlighting their ability to capitalize on Lewis & Clark's nine turnovers. Despite trailing on free throw opportunities, their shooting from beyond the arc and second-chance points helped close the gap. At the end of the half, the scoreboard read 92-83 in favor of Lewis & Clark.
