Willamette Completes Action at Pacific Invitational

BANKS, ORE. -- The WIllamette University men's team competed in the second round of the Pacific Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 28, as the event ended at the Quail Valley Golf Club. The Bearcats finished in seventh place in the team standings.

Shane Adversalo (Sr., Honolulu, HI/The University Laboratory School) led the way for Willamette as he finished 14th. Adversalo carded a 78 in his second round and finished the weekend with a 153. Robbie Beard (Sr., Yankton, SD/Yankton Senior HS) of WU finished in 16th place with a two-day score of 156. Beard carded an 81 on Sunday.

Max Bonk, of Pacific University, finished in first place with a two-day score of 143 (76-67). He beat second place finishers Sean Hamer of Pacific (71-73--144) and Tyler Nelson of Linfield College (73-71--144) by one stroke. Bonk's 4-under-part 67 in the second round was the low round of the tournament.

Alexander Bennett (Sr., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) and Sam Church (Sr., San Carlos, CA/Sequoia HS) also competed for Willamette. Bennett tied for 28th after carding rounds of 82 and 80.

Pacific University grabbed first place at their own invitational with a team score of 584. The Boxers won by four stokes over second place Linfield College (588). Northwest Christian University of third at 613, Central Oregon Community College placed fourth at 624, Corban College was fifth at 632, George Fox University was sixth at 652 and the Bearcats finished in seventh with a score of 658.

Willamette will compete in the Puget Sound Invitational on March 4-5 in Tacoma, Wash. The tournament will be hled at Fircrest Country Club. The Bearcats will then host the Willamette Invitational on March 15 in Salem, Ore., at the Creekside Country Club.
