Olson and Morsch shoot 72, tied for 8th after day one of Confluence Classic
Walla Walla, WA - Brock Olson and Benedikt Morsch each shot an even-par 72 on the first day of the Confluence Classic hosted by Whitman College. The pair are tied for 8th in the individual standings and the team is in 5th place after day one with a stroke total of 296.
The Bearcats have nine student-athletes competing at the event, with five competing in the team competition and four competing as individuals. Morsch was one of the four individual competitors so his round did not count in the team standings. Other individual performers for Willamette were Connor Murphy (+5, 77), Paxton Jones (+6, 78), and Kyler Phillips (+8, 80).
Olson led the way for Willamette in the team competition with his 72. He was followed closely behind by Lucas Paul (+2, 74), Alexander Papajohn (+3, 75), and Oliver Smith (+3, 75). The top four scores are combined to create the team total which put the Bearcats at 8-over par and tied for fourth place with the University of Puget Sound. Jack Carr (+13, 85) was the final competitor for Willamette.
The final round of the Confluence Classic is scheduled for Monday, October 21st.
