Sohnosuke Sakaguchi secures a singles point for the Bearcats
PORTLAND, Ore. — Willamette University (0-4, 0-4 NWC) fell to Lewis and Clark (2-5, 2-1 NWC) with a score of 1-6 on Sunday at the LC Tennis Dome. The Bearcats secured their sole point with a victory at No. 3 singles. Lewis and Clark dominated the doubles matches, sweeping all three courts to capture the doubles point.
Lewis and Clark secured the doubles point with victories across all matches. The duo of Spencer Loucks and Kaden Sigurdsson defeated Jake Bronson and Baily Livengood 6-4 on court 3 to open the session. Noah Sutin and Kai Wills then bested AJ Avansino and Hudson Snyder 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. The home team clinched the point when Arnav Bishnoi and Wade McDermott outlasted Luca Casano and Sohnosuke Sakaguchi 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Lewis and Clark's Arnav Bishnoi took the first singles point with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Snyder on court 4. Sigurdsson followed by defeating Avansino 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Sakaguchi provided the Bearcats with their lone singles victory, overcoming Wills 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Lewis and Clark continued its dominance as Sutin defeated Bronson 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and McDermott secured a 6-2, 6-0 win over Jack Hally on court 5. The match concluded with Loucks completing a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Casano at No. 6 singles, capping off a decisive performance for the home team.
Sakaguchi posted a singles victory, winning his match at No. 3 singles. Avansino competed in a tightly contested match at No. 1 singles but came up short. Snyder fought hard at No. 4 singles, ultimately falling in his match. Casano paired with Sakaguchi in doubles, where they faced a tough opponent at No. 2 doubles, yet were unable to secure a win.
