Outstanding Skill Exhibition at PNW Invitational
3rd overall for White in Long Jump
CORVALLIS, Ore. – A small group of Bearcats competed in the PNW Invitational, hosted by Oregon State University, from March 20 to 21st.
The first day, Mason Williams ran in the 400m Hurdles with a season best of 56.66 seconds, securing himself seventh place.
During the second day of field competition, Niko White and Owen Phillips competed in Long Jump; White's 6.98-meter jump landed him third place, while Phillips unfortunately fouled on all of his three attempts. In Pole Vault, Elijah Jones took sixth place overall by clearing 4.05 meters.
Matthew Nivala took third in his heat and eleventh overall in the 110m Hurdles, with a time of 15.58 seconds. In the 400m, Finn Gibson and Major LeProwse ended up just hundredths of a second apart: Gibson in the second heat coming in at 50.61 seconds, and LeProwse taking second in the third heat with 50.63 seconds, a personal best. Overall they took thirteenth and fourteenth, respectively. The 800m was also a close race for Tim McMahon, whose opponent barely managed to overtake him at the finish line. McMahon's time was 1:56.23, a personal best that secured him ninth overall. Liam Bergevin recorded a season best in the 800m, 1:57.54 seconds, and took sixteenth place.
The next competition for all the Bearcats is March 28, when they host the Willamette Invitational at the Charles Bowles Track, beginning at 9 am.
