SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior catcher Kelli Snyder (Longview, WA/Kelso HS) has been selected Third Team All-West Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The All-Region selections were divided into three teams with a total of 45 athletes chosen from throughout the region.
SALEM, ORE. -- The 2013 All-Northwest Conference softball team was released today, and five Willamette softball players were honored. Kelli Snyder (Sr., C, Longview, WA/Kelso HS) and Ashley Pender (Fr., 2B, Reno, NV/North Valleys HS) were selected to the First Team.
SPOKANE, WASH. -- Whitworth University rallied from a 7-4 deficit in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16 to defeat Willamette University, 8-7 in eight innings. Whitworth then held off Willamette in the second game, building an 8-4 lead that almost disappeared, before the Pirates won the second game, 8-6.
PARKLAND, WASH. -- Defending NCAA Division III national champion Pacific Lutheran University scored two runs in the sixth inning to earn an 8-6 win over Willamette University in the first game of a softball doubleheader on Sunday, April 14. In the second game, Lute pitcher Leah Butters held the Bearcats to one hit, as PLU won 10-0 on the run rule in five innings.
TACOMA, WASH. -- University of Puget Sound pitcher Megan Campbell threw a complete-game three-hitter to win the opener, 2-1, and the Loggers won a high-scoring battle in the second game, 13-12, to take a Northwest Conference doubleheader from visiting Willamette University on Saturday, April 13 at Logger Field.
McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Freshman pitcher Victoria Bradshaw (Discovery Bay, CA/Liberty HS) threw a complete-game 1-hitter to lead Willamette University to a 2-1 victory over seventh-ranked Linfield College in the second game of Northwest Conference twilight doubleheader on Wednesday, April 10. Linfield won the first game, 8-0, on the run rule in six innings.
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University and Whitworth University have scheduled a makeup date for their Northwest Conference doubleheader originally scheduled for Sunday, April 7, but canceled due to weather conditions.
SPOKANE, WASH. --The Bearcats received timely hitting in the seventh inning of game one of a doubleheader on their way to a 5-3 victory against Whitworth University on Saturday, April 6 at Marks Field. The Pirates rallied late in the second game to steal a 5-4 walk-off win.
SALEM, ORE -- Linfield College, ranked 8th in the NCAA Division III Poll released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), produced a solid offensive display against Willamette University on Wednesday, April 3, as the Wildcats defeated the Bearcats, 16-5 and 18-3, at the WU Softball Field. Both games ended on the run rule in five innings.
SALEM, ORE -- Willamette University swept a Northwest Conference doubleheader from visiting University of Puget Sound on Saturday, March 30, by winning both games on the 8-run rule. The Bearcats pounded out 17 hits to take the first game, 12-4 in six innings. In the second game, Willamette extended a 2-0 lead by scoring five times in the fifth inning.
SALEM, ORE -- Pacific Lutheran University swept a doubleheader from the Willamette University Bearcats on Friday, March 29, as the Lutes won 10-2 and 7-2 at the WU Softball Field. In the first game, PLU blasted four home runs, including two by first baseman Amanda Hall. In the second game, pitcher Kaaren Hatlen threw a two-hitter for the Lutes.
SALEM, ORE. -- Kelli Snyder (Sr., C, Longview, WA/Kelso HS) of Willamette University has been named the Northwest Conference Softball Hitter Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts as the Bearcats went 3-1 overall on in doubleheaders on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17.
PORTLAND, ORE -- Hayley Glantz (So., P, Reno, NV/Robert McQueen HS) pitched a two-hit shutout in game one, and Kelli Snyder (Sr., C, Longview, WA/Kelso HS) hit a pair of home runs in the second contest as Willamette University swept a doubleheader from Northwest Conference opponent Lewis & Clark College on Sunday, March 17 at the Huston Sports Complex.
SALEM, ORE -- The Willamette University softball team split a doubleheader with Northwest Conference Rival Pacific University on Saturday, March 16. The Bearcats won the first game 12-10 and lost the second game 14-7.
COLUMBUS, GA. -- Willamette University earned victories over Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) and Alma College (Mich.) on Sunday, March 10, during the final day of the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic, as the Bearcats won the consolation title of the Silver Bracket. WU rolled past Gustavus Adolphus, 13-4, in the consolation semifinals, before defeating Alma, 5-1, in the consolation championship game.
COLUMBUS, GA. -- The Willamette softball team continued play Saturday in the NFCA Leadoff Classic, first earning a 5-3 win over St. John Fisher College N.Y.), then dropping a 5-0 decision in a loss to Piedmont College (Ga.). The 28-team tournament is sponsored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
