Winger is Named NWC Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week
SALEM, ORE. -- Paul Winger (Sr., Bonney Lake, WA/Bonney Lake HS) of Willamette University has been named the Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week for the opening weekend of the 2012 outdoor track and field season. Winger won the 400-meter dash at the Willamette Opener on Saturday, March 3.
Earns Victory in 400-meter Dash at Willamette Opener
SALEM, ORE. -- Paul Winger (Sr., Bonney Lake, WA/Bonney Lake HS) of Willamette University has been named the Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week for the opening weekend of the 2012 outdoor track and field season. Winger won the 400-meter dash at the Willamette Opener on Saturday, March 3.
Winger, who has won three NWC championships in the 400, started the season with a quality result on Saturday. He took first place in 49.04 seconds, winning a close finish against Landon Burningham of Western Oregon University. Burningham claimed second place in 49.18 seconds. Third place went to Josh Moore of WOU in 49.91. A total of 11 runners competed in the event.
Up next for the Willamette track and field teams is the Lane Preview, hosted by Lane Community College on Saturday, March 10 in Eugene, Ore. The action is slated to start at 9 a.m. (PST).
Paul Winger took first place in the 400-meter dash at the Willamette Opener with a time of 49.04 seconds.
