Willamette falls to Linfield
Jillian Price wins the 100 and 200 Yard Freestyle
SALEM, Ore. — On Saturday, Willamette University's swimming team showcased a strong performance with Jillian Price leading the charge by securing first place finishes in both the 100 and 200 Yard Freestyle events. Leah Howell also delivered a notable effort, capturing first in the 100 Yard Backstroke and earning a second-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Willamette's swimmers delivered a strong performance throughout the competition, with standout efforts from several key athletes. Price claimed first place in both the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.14 and the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:01.79. Howell excelled, securing first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.62 and placing second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.15. Tessa Ciatti contributed significantly to the team's success, finishing second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.56 and the 400-yard individual medley in 5:02.98.
The Bearcats displayed depth in the relay events, with the team finishing second in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay. The freestyle relay team, consisting of Journey Brown, Ana Kaldy, Kate Shower, and Elisa Michels, completed their race in 1:53.15. The medley relay team of Price, Hanna Vornbrock, Ciatti, and Howell finished with a time of 1:56.76. Emma Noffsinger also made notable contributions, taking second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:52.65 and third in the 50-yard freestyle.
