Bearcats Dominate Doubles to Power Past Linfield
Alexa de Crinis Sparks Comeback Win at No. 1 Singles
Willamette secured the doubles point decisively with victories across all three courts. The duo of Grace O'Steen and Alicia Sola clinched the first win at No. 3 doubles, overpowering Linfield University's Lyla Khlee and Steffanie Stark 6-1. This was followed by a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, where Alexa de Crinis and Reese Beyrouty bested Kaitlynn Canubida and Sam Baltz. The sweep was completed with Sofia Spencer and Eva Lief's 6-4 victory over Sundi King and Gianna Molony at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, the Bearcats and Linfield split the six matches evenly. De Crinis came back from a set down to win at No. 1 singles, defeating Kaitlynn Canubida 1-6, 6-1, 6-1. Lief added another point for the Bearcats at No. 4 singles with a straight-set victory, 6-0, 6-1, against Sundi King. Katie Briggs secured another win for the Bearcats, finishing with a 6-1, 6-1 result over Lilianna Cano at No. 6 singles.
Linfield responded with wins at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 singles. Sam Baltz defeated Spencer 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Emily Redwood overcame Beyrouty in a three-set battle at No. 3 singles, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Lastly, Gianna Molony closed Linfield's scoring with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Sola at No. 5 singles.
The next challenge for the Bearcats is George Fox University on February 21st at 11:00 am. They will compete as the home team in this event.
