Bearcat Success at Willamette Invitational
Henderson leads pack in 5000m for first place
SALEM, Ore. — During the Willamette Invitational, the Bearcats competed against seven other teams and unattached athletes.
Beginning the day with the 4x100m Relay, the team of Lavender Bel, Mashani Coleman Toliver, Ella Thompson and Wendy Brannon did not let lack of competition stop them from achieving a season best (SB) of 48.54 seconds. Just two events later, Bel raced again in the 100m Hurdles, earning second place, Coleman taking fifth. The Bearcats had no runners in the 400m, but in the 100m Brannon and Addie Gage both secured personal bests (PB) for seventh and ninth place (13.07 and 13.17 seconds, respectively).
In the 800m, Anna Bikle earned fifth at 2:21.99 minutes (SB), followed closely by Maya Willis. In the 400m Hurdles, Juniper Ammirati and Sage Miller secured second and third place. Bel flew past competitors in the 200m, taking first place, while Thompson earned sixth with a PB of 26.71 seconds. In the 5000m, the Bearcats took the top three spots: Elise Henderson in first, followed by Anastasiia Lemesh and Rachel Hamasaki.
Moving to field events, Nanea Cobb-Adams delivered a performance that secured her fourth place and a season best in Discus. Olivia Jacobson took fourth in Hammer Throw, while Henri Osbore earned fifth in Shot Put.
Rema Holmes cleared 2.53 meters in Pole Vault to have sixth place. In Triple Jump, Janae Howard landed second with a distance of 9.38 meters. High Jump saw Erica Snyder earn first place, and Whitley Stepp third. Stepp, however, secured first in Long Jump, while Snyder and Howard took second and third. Amanda Mcarthur rounded out the Bearcats' domination by taking fourth place.
