PORTLAND, Ore. — Schreiner University edged Willamette University in a five-set thriller, winning 20-25, 25-10, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10 at Pamplin Sports Center. The Mountain Lions' formidable blocking, totaling 11 team blocks, played a pivotal role in their comeback victory. Despite the Bearcats' 11 service aces, Schreiner capitalized on a strong attack, finishing with a .233 hitting percentage compared to Willamette's .052.
Leina Chu facilitated the offense with 36 assists, demonstrating her pivotal role in setting up plays. Dream Takemoto anchored the defense with 17 digs, effectively handling the backcourt pressure. Tai Sorenson contributed significantly on defense with 15 digs, adding stability to the team's performance. Chelsea Velez led the attack with 14 kills, providing consistent scoring opportunities throughout the matches.
