SPOKANE, Wash. — Whitworth University defeated Willamette University in four sets, 26-28, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19, on Saturday at Whitworth Fieldhouse. Willamette claimed the first set in a tense battle, but Whitworth responded with three consecutive set victories, aided by a strong 0.188 hitting percentage and 75 digs. Both teams recorded seven service aces, but Whitworth's consistent play in the final three sets secured the win.
Katey Cramer led the Bearcats with 15 kills and contributed 16 points. Leina Chu facilitated the offense with 40 assists and added 14 digs. Dream Takemoto anchored the defense with 20 digs. Katelynn Hopper was a strong presence at the net, achieving six total blocks and securing a perfect 1.000 attack percentage with six kills.
The Bearcats hold a record of 3-7 overall and 1-2 in Northwest Conference play. Whitworth stands at 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the Northwest Conference.
