SALEM, ORE. -- Five Willamette University cross country runners have received All-Academic status from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2010 season. Three members of the Willamette men's team and two runners on the Bearcat women's team were chosen for the All-Academic award.
WAVERLY, IOWA -- Willamette University men's cross country runner Stefan Redfield (Sr., Sisters, OR/Sisters HS) and WU women's cross country runner Kimber Mattox (So., Bend, OR/Bend HS/Cornell Univ.) earned All-America honors at the 2010 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 20. The 8-kilometer men's race and the 6-kilometer women's race were hosted by Wartburg College. The top 35 runners in each race earned All-America recognition.

Willamette will field a complete men's team and will be represented by two runners in the women's race. SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University Head Coach Matt McGuirk has been named 2010 NCAA Division III West Region Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). McGuirk recently led the Bearcats to the men's team championship at the NCAA West Regional. He will be leading the team into the NCAA Championships this weekend at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's cross country team is ranked #14 in NCAA Division III for the second time this season, in rankings released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday, Nov. 15. The Bearcats moved up 15 places after winning the West Regional title at Bush's Pasture Park on Saturday.
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- When the 2010 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships get underway on Saturday, Nov. 20 in Waverly, Iowa, Willamette University will be competing with a men's team entry, plus two runners from the women's team. Willamette finished with a team score of 63, while CMS registered a team score of 65. Whitworth University took third place with a score of 80.

TACOMA, WASH. -- Willamette University runners Leo Castillo (Jr., Parkdale, OR/Hood River Valley HS) and Kimber Mattox (So., Bend, OR/Bend HS/Cornell Univ.) have won individual titles at the Northwest Conference Cross Country Championships, held at Fort Steilacoom Park on Saturday, Oct. 30. Castillo won the men's 8-kilometer race and Mattox finished first in the women's 6-kilometer race.
SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University cross country teams will be in Lakewood, Wash., on Saturday, Oct. 30 to compete in the 2010 Northwest Conference Championships. Action at Fort Steilacoom Park is set to get underway at 10 a.m. (PDT) with the men's 8-kilometer race, which will be followed by the women's 6-kilometer race at 11 a.m. University of Puget Sound is hosting the event.

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University runner Kimber Mattox (So., Bend, OR/Bend HS/Cornell Univ.) has been named the Northwest Conference Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Mike Hodges Invitational on Friday, Oct. 15.
EUGENE, ORE. -- Leo Castillo (Jr., Parkdale, OR/Hood River Valley HS) placed 24th overall in the men's 8-kilometer race at the Bill Dellinger Invitational. hosted by the University of Oregon on Saturday, Oct. 16. The meet was held at Pre's Trail in Alton Baker Park. Castillo recorded a time of 24:38.62.
