Willamette Men's Soccer Ready to take on 2015 Schedule

SALEM, ORE. -- After finishing just one point out of first place in the Northwest Conference standings in 2014, the Willamette University men's soccer team is looking forward to the 2015 season. The Bearcats have announced their schedule, which includes seven home games against NWC opponents, plus five non-conference home games.

BREMERTON, WASH. -- Former Willamette University men's soccer midfielder Trevor Jensen ('14) has signed a contract to play for a second season with the Kitsap Pumas of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The Pumas, who compete in the Northwest Division of the Premier Development League, first signed Jensen last season.

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University men's soccer goalkeeper Braydon Calder (Jr., Philomath, OR/Philomath HS) has been named Third Team All-West Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA). Calder helped the Bearcats achieve a 13-5-2 overall record, including 10-2-2 (2nd place) in the Northwest Conference.

SALEM, ORE. -- Four members of the Willamette University men's soccer team have been chosen First Team All-Northwest Conference for the 2014 season, and Head Coach Lloyd Fobi has been named NWC Coach of the Year, in voting by the league's head coaches. In addition, one Bearcat was named Second Team All-NWC.

SALEM, ORE. -- Fabian Guerrero (So., F, Salem, OR/South Salem HS) scored on a rebound for Willamette University at 72:35 to break a 1-1 tie and the Bearcats went on to a 4-1 win over rival Linfield College on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Sparks Field. Seven Bearcats earned a goal or an assist during the game.

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University, ranked #9 in the West Region of NCAA Division III, battled Whitworth University, ranked #3 in the West Region, to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Sparks Field. Whitworth also is ranked #22 in the nation in the NCAA Division III Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Bearcats moved to 12-4-2 overall, while Whitworth ended the game at 13-1-3 on the season. With the tie, Willamette remained in first place in the Northwest Conference at 9-1-2 (29 points). University of Puget Sound is second at 9-2-1 (28 points) and Whitworth is third at 8-1-3 (27 points).

The goal came after the ball bounced off the crossbar on a shot from Julian Hanlon-Austin (So., F, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and Hishmeh shot it in off the rebound.
