SALEM, Ore. -- Action in collegiate summer baseball leagues is well underway for fourteen Willamette University athletes. The Bearcats have compiled some impressive statistics so far this summer.
SALEM, Ore. -- Fourteen players from the 2015 Willamette University baseball team are competing in summer leagues. Seven Bearcats are on teams in California, while two players are competing in Oregon and two are playing in Hawaii. Each of three states -- Colorado, Idaho and Washington -- has a team with one WU player on its roster.
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior first baseman Tiras Koon (Honolulu, HI/Iolani School) has been named to the 2015 NCAA Division III All-West Region First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Koon previously was chosen Second Team All-West Region by D3baseball.com.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Pacific University scored six runs in the second inning and the Boxers went on to defeat the Willamette University Bearcats, 9-4, on Sunday, May 3 in a non-conference game at Chuck Bafaro Stadium. Pacific ended the year at 21-19, while the Bearcats concluded the season at 21-18.
FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Willamette University connected for 22 hits in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Pacific University on Saturday, May 2, as the Bearcats routed the Boxers, 16-4, at Chuck Bafaro Field. Pacific took the second game of the twinbill, 10-3.
SALEM, ORE. -- Senior first baseman Tiras Koon (Honolulu, HI/Iolani School) of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Baseball Player of the Year for the 2015 season in voting by the NWC's head coaches. He also was chosen First Team All-Northwest Conference. Koon ranks third in the NWC with a .380 batting average and leads the conference with 12 home runs.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth University scored four runs in the first inning and led throughout the game, as the Pirates downed Willamette University, 11-4, in the final game of a three-game Northwest Conference series on Sunday, April 19. Whitworth improved to 25-13 overall, 16-8 in the Northwest Conference, while the Bearcats dropped to 20-16, 10-14 in the NWC.
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth University rallied from a two-run deficit in the final inning to edge Willamette University, 8-7, in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 at Merkel Field. The Pirates also won the first game, 5-3. Whitworth advanced its record to 24-13, including 15-8 in the Northwest Conference, while Willamette fell to 20-15, 10-13 in the NWC. The Pirates led 3-2 in the first game before scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-2 advantage. Willamette scored one run in the top of the ninth. In the second game, Whitworth scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally from a 7-5 deficit. The winning run was scored by Skyler Lookabill when Nick Motsinger walked with two outs and the bases loaded. For Willamette in the second game, Tiras Koon (Sr., 1B, Honolulu, HI/Iolani School) hit a two-run homer in the third inning. It was his NWC-leading 11th home run of the season.

TACOMA, WASH. -- University of Puget Sound defeated Willamette University in both games of a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 7, as the Loggers won 16-2 and 6-5 at Logger Field. The wins gave UPS a sweep of the three-game season series. Both games played on Tuesday were rained out on March 15.
SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University and University of Puget Sound will play two make-up games in baseball on Tuesday, April 7 in Tacoma, Wash. The doubleheader was rescheduled after it was rained out on March 15. The teams will begin playing the first game on Tuesday at 12 p.m. (PDT).
